It is a sudden episode of diarrhoea and vomiting caused by food or drink contaminated by bacteria or its toxins, inorganic substances, poisons of vegetable or animal origin.
The episode is marked by number of people sharing the same food are attacked by the food poisoning with same symptoms and signs.

Signs & Symptoms:
Salmonella: infection from farm animal/ poultry e. g. Contaminated meat, milk, egg etc. Fever, nausea, vomiting, watery diahhorea.
Staphylococcal: Due to food contamination. Sudden vomiting abdominal cramp, diahhorea with blood & mucous.
Botulism: It is rare but kills two third of its victims. Common source is preserved food. E. g. Caned vegetable, fish, cheese. Symptoms Dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing), Double vision, Blurring of vision, Muscle weakness, paralysis and death.
Food sanitation: food animals must be free from infection, personal hygiene of food handler, periodic medical examination, proper storage, pasteurized milk and milk products, sanitation of cooking vessels, prevention of rats, mice flies and dust.
Refrigeration: Food must be stored in cold storage, Food must be heated before use.
